There is an exhibition in Taipei on November.The World Press Photo Foundation is a major force in developing and promoting the work of visual journalists and visual storytellers, with a range of activities and initiatives that span the globe.

A loggerhead sea turtle swims entangled in abandoned fishing gear.The loggerhead is classed as 'vulnerable' species globally by the International Union for conservation of nature,but now it is listed 'endangered'.Entrapment in nets intended for other species,and in gear left abandoned by fishing boats is the prime threat to marine turtles,followed by human consumption of meat and eggs,and coastal development affecting their habitat.It is crucial that we disregard the environmental protection.Stop using plastic bags is the first thing that we need to try.

A Syrian child reacts in pain,as another child lies on the bed in the hospital.This place had been under siege by government forces since 2013,though some aid convoys had managed to reach the town in previous months,supplies of food and medical equipment remained short.It occurs to me that what a harmony life we lived.

A black rhino, poached for its horn, is found dead at South Africa.

It is suspected that the killers entered the park illegally,shooting the rhino with a high-powered hunting rifle.Demand in Asia for rhino horn,in conventional,it valued for its medicinal properties.People thought that the horn could heal cancer.Unfortunately,the material of its horn is same as our nails!No matter how you eat horn,it won't cure your disease.

#Jason's going to Toronto in January.Because Canada is the only place on the planet that looks forward to cold,snow and ice every year.He can try playing hockey there.Toronto Blue Jays should be his new baseball team.

2. Why was the November 11th holiday first created?  What was it first called?

What are some of the names it is called today, and where is it still celebrated?

 #The guns fell silent on the battlefield of Europe,thus ended the worst war in world history up to that time.

Armistice Day.

Remembrance Day,United States still have a holiday to remember the young men who had been killed in war.

 4.Why are Collen (the mother) and Echo (the daughter) in Ireland at this time?

#Echo decided to try out for the 'Disney on Ice' shows.They are traveling shows that go from city to city,putting on ice skating shows that are 'themed' from popular Disney movie.

letter9: SCHOOL CELEBRATION!

Hello,Tim!
This weekend will be the celebration for our school.We are now busy preparing the school carnival,there are a lot of stuff need to do in advance,such as buying food,setting the price,designing the poster of our stand.We plan to sell fried noodles,layered drinks(a kind of drink with gradient color),corn soup,and a service for body painting,aren't they cool?A series of celebration will be held during this week:sports competition,art exhibition...etc.😀😀
To have a memorable school celebration,we spend much time on it.

1.What time does “trick or treating” usually start, and what time does it usually finish.  During that time, about how many “trick or treaters” came to Mr. Maher’s house?
#It usually starts from kids after school(about 4:00 PM)until almost 6:30 PM.It probably around 150-200 trick or treaters came to Mr.Maher's house.
5.How dos Mr. Maher suspect that Ms. Lin made it through the day on Halloween?
#She may probably run away and hide all day.In fact,she didn't do that.
10.Who won the World Series?  
#The Huston Astros won the World Series.

letter8: ENGLISH DUBBING CONTEST!

Greetings,Tim!
Today(11/3)we are in Taipei University of Science and Technology to attend the "English Movie Dubbing Contest".
With practicing for several weeks,they finally stand on the stage to perform.
As an audience,we have to sit until the end of the contest.
The team of Frozen,consist of Hugo,Cathy,Doris and Patrick,won the third place,both their pronunciation and volume were awesome!BTW,Hugo,Doris and William also won the best dubber!
The other team,Sparta,comprise William,Jack,Allison and Sabrina,won an excellent work.They are the minority of choosing a live-action feature.It helps judges having deep impression to them.Though they don't have the best prize,they still the best in our heart.

There were seven teams dubbed for  "Madagascar",and there were three teams had mostly same clip!What a coincidence!I liked the team of Finding Nemo the most,they could speak English quickly with great pronunciation. I was really appreciate it!During the contest,we found that the participants usually used plastic bags and cartons to make some sound effect,such as footsteps or hoof sound.
When they dubbed, making facial and physical expression might help them more assimilate into characters.
Another impressive point was a bird,Kevin.The dubber had an outstanding performance because he used many kind of voices to imitate the bird.
Through this contest,we realized more skills of dubbing and visited more masters from other cities.It's a significant event!

#They scampered through the regular season with 104 wins,the most of any team in all of baseball.

5.What are traditionally used to decorate the graves on Dia de Los Muertos?
#Adult graves are marked with orange marigolds,while the white orchids are left at children's grave.

 9.What are the dangers of Mr. Maher trying to watch ALL of the sporting events on Saturday?
#He may be brain dead by the end of the baseball game,or his wife may have shot him for sitting around watching sports all day.
