Hello,Tim!
I was a little bit busy this week so I updated the blog late.
The weather in Taiwan is getting colder and colder,it also means autumn is around the corner! The temperature is about 20℃ in Taipei,I feel very comfortable.
Next Tuesday will be Halloween! We plan to wear costumes in class on that day.
I hear that EHP also do this last year, everyone rents the unique costumes. It must be extremely interesting!I think that I would like to try dressing like a witch. It seems funny! I will take some pictures to put on the blog.
The Halloween which we celebrated in Taiwan was not very formal.
We usually just do some "trick or treat",give some candies. Rather than us,most of the western countries reckon Halloween as a important festival, they celebrate it seriously.
Here are several answers to the questions:
1.What are origins of our modern celebration of “Halloween”?
#"It was expected that the spirits of the departed would be walking about, revisiting old sights and perhaps stopping by to say hello to relatives and friends, sometimes these ghostly visitor would 'invite' travelers to join them in the spirit world. It was best if you were in some kind of disguise,to fool the spirits into thinking that you were already one of them."
2. Who is Dullahan, and how can you protect yourself from him?
#He is a headless horseman which was transformed from an angry god.
The only protection from Dullahan is to be wearing or carrying an object made of gold.
3.How has the modern celebration of Halloween been “toned down”?
#The kids' costumes are usually super heroes from Walmart or Target, the candy treats are supposed to be packaged to show that there has been no tampering.
4.What are some acceptable “tricks” for Halloween?
#Toilet paper in trees was all right.Shaving cream on cars.
Happy Halloween!

letter6: CHINESE CULTURE!
Greetings,Tim.
1.What is now at the site where the original Phoenix Chinatown used to be?
#It's the baseball stadium and the basketball arena now.For many years, there wasn't one Chinatown.
2.Who is the COFCO company, and what was surprising about their decision to build a Chinese Cultural Center in Phoenix?
#The COFCO company, which is owned by the government of Mainland China.
It was surprise that when they located the Chinese Cultural Town near the intersection of 44th Street and Washington. That's convenient, but nowhere near anything that could be considered, past or present,a Chinese neighborhood.
3.Why would the citizens of Tempe think that they lived in a civilized society?
#They have indoor running water and plumbling, electrical power, pave street, and respected schools. They even have a major University in the center of town.
4. There is “pearl tea”, “boba tea”, and “bubble tea”. Are those just different names for the same thing, or are they different.? How are they different?
#I think they are basically same to others. A little difference between them is the size of bubble, isn't it?I'm not pretty sure about this.
I heard that you just had DaYung's in Tempe.I had drunk it for several times.
Its size were really big in Taiwan, was it also big in America?
The fruit in it are extremely fresh, and the price are make sense. But I haven't tried the bubble tea yet,I would like to try it next time.

#15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese calendar.Usually on late September or early October.
2. How do people today celebrate the “Moon Festival”?

#In Taiwan,we would like to barbecue and eat moon cake on the day.Moon Festival is a symbol of family reunion, people always get together to have a meal.BTW,the moon festival this year is just my birthday!!!
3. When does the American baseball season begin and end, and when are the playoffs?
#The season is 162 games long ,it started in early April, and it goes until the end of September.
We have an one day-off on Moon Festival, having barbecue is what I most expected.
Eating meat and watching the full moon are enjoyable to us.Do you also celebrate this festival? If so,how do you celebrate it? I had heard the story about moon festival, too.I used to think Chang'e was so selfish, she ate the thing that could be immortal.
Happy Moon Festival!!
I suggested you that should also try some barbecue❤❤❤
